Beginners Surface Decoration Introduction to the decorative use of clays, glazes, slips and oxides: formulation, types of applications and firings. Beginning Sculpture Class This class is designed to teach you to analyze your ideas and create sculptures with the most suitable method of hand-building, whether that is coil or slab or sculpting solid and hollowing it at the leather-hard stage. We will be working within the small and medium scale. The sculptures will be finished with either glazes or oxides. For this class you will benefit the most if you have intermediate or advanced skills in hand building. The goal is for each student to complete a project of his/hers own design, up to 20" in high. |

Glaze Calculation (class duration: 12 weeks) Learn to make your own glazes. This course is designed for students and professional potters who have mastered the basic concepts of technical ceramics and have some familiarity with ceramic materials, basic bodies, various oxides and stains in glazing. This class meets every second Saturday over a 12-week period, to allow enough time for experimentation and firing of student work between class meetings.
