Advanced Beginners Hand-Building

Learn slab-building techniques in this follow-up to Beginners Hand-Building

This course offers the advanced beginner a valuable introduction to hard and soft slab construction and includes instruction on glaze application. Experience with pinching and coiling is prerequisite.

Advanced Beginners Wheel Throwing: Intro. to Porcelain

Develop your throwing skills using porcelain clay

This class will cover the properties of throwing, trimming, and glazing this beautiful clay body as compared to stoneware. Prerequisite: Mut be INDEPENDENT in throwing, trimming, and glazing 2 to 3 pounds stoneware. Some additional tools may be required. There will also be a materials fee of $15

Intermediate Wheel-Throwing

Designer Wheel Throwing

Once you are comfortable throwing, trimming and glazing your work independently, an intermediate class will allow you to explore creating and developing your own designs. The ability to throw, trim and glaze independently is a prerequisite.

Advanced Intermediate Hand-Building

Refine and develop your Hand-Building techniques

Use advanced hand-building techniques to explore personal ideas and self-expression. This course will focus on form and surface finishing options. Hand Building experience (pinch, coil and slab) is prerequisite.

Sculpture I

Explore Ceramic Sculpture

This class will give students the opportunity to learn about creative possibilities inherent in the process of clay sculpture. Designed for the intermediate to advanced level hand builder who is interested in expanding their ceramics experience, class instruction will cover three basic sculpture building techniques and include joining, adding to the form, refining, and non-glaze finish options. Students may tailor their projects to individual interests. Beginning sculpture will prepare students for the advanced level Sculpture II class.
